Light Industry 2022
Group show at Rabenu Hananel 14, Tel Aviv, as a part of 'Loving Art Making Art' events. With the participation of Shahar Yahalom, Haimi Fenichel, Shay Id Along, Avital Cnaani, Dana Roessler, Liran Shapiro, Tal Gafny, Rachel Levian, Kat Tolkovsky, curators: Avishai Platek and Noga Litman
The exhibition was presented in a special building that was erected in the late 1940s. During its years of existence it housed a candy factory, a garage, Mashbir store, a shoes factory and today it has a carpentry shop, art studios and a painting school. These days, four new 17-story towers are being built in front of the building, but from it you can still see the last remnants of other times of the city, even a small piece of blue sea.
The many cranes and scaffolding at the construction site unexpectedly create a colorful and spectacular cityscape to watch. The works in the exhibition refer to the city that has been crowned the most expensive in the world, a city that is changing its face and shifting rapidly. Under the burning September sun and throughout the day, the works merge with the surrounding sights of southern Tel Aviv. The works are posing questions, how does the art created in the southern part of the city is affected by its environment, which is characterized by extreme regeneration and neglect, and whether art and craft can somehow be significant players in this arena.
